Meet the Uncles

One of our favorite things to do in Michigan is Midland's farmer's market on Saturday mornings.  Today was extra special since a local church was sponsoring a kid's day or something, complete with free balloons, cookies, and a bounce house.  Hubs and I took the kids where his family met us for a fun morning.  Fun until M lost his pink balloon!  It was quickly replaced with a green one but he was inconsolable.  Poor kid.

Hi Uncle D!

Mommy, Uncle A pinched me!

Who's holding me now?

Aunt L and K

I love the bounce house Uncle A!
N loves it, too.
The boys were fantastic on the plane yesterday but didn't nap.  Then last night I thought they would pass out because they were so tired, but since they were sharing a room for the first time in 5 months, they giggled and talked for an hour (which is still okay because they weren't jumping or screaming) then were up at 6 am, lost and scared because they (N) didn't know where they (he) was!  They took a nap this afternoon at my MIL's without putting up a fight, much to my delight.  I'm glad for it because tomorrow is looking like a no nap day too.

C is a champ, giving me a 5 hour stretch of sleep each night followed by two more and last night three more.  Loving this whole nursing-one-baby business.  I told my mom last night that it's probably good that I had the twins first because I didn't know how HARD what I was doing (nursing twins) was until now because nursing one is so easy, just like my twin-mom,-plus-a-singleton friends said it would be.  Glad to be here for a week where there are lots of hands to help so I can relax a bit and do fun stuff like blog and plan our anniversary party, which reminds me...my wedding ring fits again just in time for our 10 year anniversary next week!

Ten years, three year old twins and a one month old.  Not to mention a lot of other stuff.  Wow!

Flying Five

I'm asked all the time, "how do you do it?" I say, "I just do." Here are a few snapshots of our first flight as a family of five, without the big boys' car seats (shudder). I was a bit nervous, but they flew like the veterans they are. They sat in the normal airplane seats by themselves and for the first time ever, they could watch the Tarmac from their windows. M remembers from 6 months ago that "two dings means we watch DVD!" and diligently waited for them.
1. M and N, stroller-less, running on the moving walkways for the first time..
2. N plays with Daddy's iPad on the flight.
3. M watches "dozers and diggers" And driving teddy Graham's in his hot wheels pick up.
4. C playing it cool in his Marigold Baby cap strolling through Flint Bishop.

We are getting ready for C's first trip to MI to meet everyone, so today is packing, nursing, packing, nursing. Flying with 5 should be interesting!!
1. daddy reading nap time stories to two very sleepy fellas.
2. C watching mama pack while brothers nap.

Experi-blog

Today I decided I want to do a little experiment with my blog. Others have done a photo of the day, and yesterday I read an article (on Mental Floss site, not sure how to link it bc i am iphone blogging) about a man who took a Polaroid snapshot every day of his life for 18 years until the day he died. I can't commit to the one photo a day for a year philosophy, much less for the rest of my life, but I think it's a nifty idea and since I have the technology at my fingertips-literally-I thought I would test it out for the rest of June. Because June is setting itself up to be pretty crazy, so rather than NOT blog due to travel insanity, I'd share the wealth with you.

Here's a somewhat typical Wednesday morning for us. The new normal.

1. Me and the boys going to Cub to pick up a prescription. It's how we roll now.
2. Me nursing C and applying makeup at the same time, a new muti tasking combo for me. It really IS easier with one kid! Who knew?

La what? Free sibling care?

I took the boys to a "baby talk" class, where they got to play with other kids and one of their former ECFE teachers and I got to socialize with other new moms. It struck me as I nursed C, sitting with a dozen moms, many of whom also nursed, that I was essentially sitting in one of those La Leche League meetings my mother in law went to in the '80's! I giggled, but smiled because now I see Past the goofy name and understand the wisdom. I wasn't there for nursing advice, though. After nursing twins for 10 months, I pretty much know what I'm doing (in that area anyhow). No, I was there for 90 minutes of free sibling care. Not going to lie. Besides being the ONLY mom called out to change a poopy diaper, it was beautiful! And we can attend until C is twelve weeks. Sign me up!

And what did C think? He loved it. And he tipped the scale at 12lbs 10oz...he's only 3wks 5 days! No wonder none of his clothes fit, he's gained two and three quarters pounds already!

Daddy's still doing a lot the shopping and today he brought home Twins hats for the boys. Adorable! Look at N's curls sticking out! They are really starting to get it too!
